For the cooler months, hot drinks are available for $10 each including the Kentucky Hot Chocolate with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, bourbon cream, whipped cream and sprinkles and the Buckeye with hot chocolate, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, whipped cream and sprinkles. “As soon as we sold as part of the franchise agreement, we had to take all the signs down and we couldn’t serve another meal,” Stan Sofer said on April 3 from his office not far from the now shuttered 300-seat eatery located at 2890 W. He added they offered the out-of-state owners of the eight-franchise company the right to purchase the longtime local hot spot first. The bar now has a dedicated game room featuring darts, Golden Tee and Big Buck Hunter. The room, which can hold about 30 people, is available for rentals and private parties, Bagley said.

We did this once at a going away party and it worked out beautifully, although we found you’ll want to get your grilling done before it gets dark as it gets hard to tell when you’re food is done in the dim lighting. Cody’s beer garden at has been recently updated and remodeled for the summer. Known to have one of the greatest outdoor bars in Chicago, the most important aspect of Cody’s has not changed.

Bagley called the reopening a “revival” of a beloved neighborhood bar and said his goal was to stay true to the look and feel of Cody’s. Adding to the space’s amenities are eight 65-inch TVs around the bar for a total of 10 throughout the space. The existing authentic tin ceiling was repainted copper and features several antique Schlitz chandeliers hanging throughout. The drink menu features local craft beer and a rotating menu of seasonal brews, Bagley said. The bar’s wintertime options include Maplewood Son of Juice, Three Floyd’s Gumballhead and Zombie Dust, Revolution Anti-Hero and more.
